Martha Papathanassiou studied Marine Sciences (B.SC. Hons) and completed a Master’s Degree (MA) in Communications, both in the UK. She worked as Communications Officer for various EU-funded projects (FP6 SESAME &
FP7 PERSEUS ) for over 13 years, at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, in Athens, Greece. In 2018, she founded INDIGO MED, participating in the EU ERAMUS+ Project
“MATES” and the EASME
“MedSkippers” project. She is currently Work Package leader in the
H2020 BRIDGE-BS project, leading ocean literacy, education, and capacity building activities in the Black Sea. She has also worked as a freelance communications consultant for IOC-UNESCO and
Brilliant Solutions Engineering & Consulting, providing consulting services related to dissemination and communication activities, and event management for projects focusing on water and environmental science & policy.
